Privacy Policy

Grumpty remembers your home maintenance and emails you when it's due. That means we hold a small amount of your data. This page is the plain account of what we collect, why, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it. We collect as little as the product needs, and we don't sell it.

Who we are

Grumpty ("we", "us") is the operator of grumpty.com and the data controller for the information described here. We are based in the United States. To reach us about privacy, email hello@grumpty.com.

What we collect

• Account: your email address, and a password if you set one (stored hashed by our auth provider, never in plain text).
• Your home and chores: the household name, the maintenance tasks you add (titles, schedules, notes), your completion history, and any contractors you save. If you use the setup wizard, the home details you give it (ZIP, home type, approximate year built, and which features apply, such as a pool or septic system).
• Email activity: whether reminder emails were sent, and your unsubscribe choice.
• Basic usage analytics: aggregate, privacy-friendly metrics (page views, rough device and country) with no tracking cookies and no cross-site profiling. See Cookies and analytics below.

We don't ask for, or want, more than this. No payment details (the product is free during beta), no precise location, no advertising identifiers.

Why we use it

• To run the core service: track what's due and show your list.
• To send the reminder emails you signed up for, and account emails like sign-in links and invites.
• To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for advertising. We use a short list of service providers ("sub-processors") that handle data on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account and your chores).
• Resend — sends the reminder and account emails.
• Vercel — hosts the app and provides the cookieless usage analytics.

Each only processes what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless and does not build a profile of you across sites, so we don't show a cookie consent banner.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, and our providers delete it on their own schedules. Backups age out over time.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, or delete it. If you're in California, the CCPA/CPRA give you the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights; we do not sell or "share" your information as those laws define it. If you're in the UK or EU, you also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection under the GDPR.

To exercise any of these, email hello@grumpty.com from your account address. To delete your account and its data, email us and we'll take care of it.

Children

Grumpty is for adults managing a home. It isn't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we'll say so in the app or by email.
